How do I find a pair of beginners ballet pointe shoes online and figure out the sizes?

i would strongly advise you go into a dancewear store and get fitted for pointe shoes. there is much more to pointe shoe sizing than just length.

i would suggest, based on your street shoe size, going with a 10 (they are japanese, and run slightly odd), and they come in narrow, medium, wide, and extra wide (X). if you can wear regular, medium width sneakers and dress shoes, go with the wide. if you need narrow shoes, go with the medium. if you need wide shoes, go extra wide


i really hope you have had proper training. if not you can really screw up your entire body. pointe is a very dangerous activity, especially if you dont have a professional shoe fitting and if you are training yourself at home...

Hi! I am a Ballet Dancer my self. You are given Pointe shoes when you FEET can hold you bodys weight. If you've never done ballet before i dont think you should start out with ballet pointe shoes. Find a pair you like and they will tell you ur size

well your best bet is to go to a store try them on, say you'll think about it then order off line, but it sounds like your not a dancer so you definitely shouldn't wear them! so if you're not going to wear them it doesn't matter what size you buy. but I can tell you that bloch aspiration (what I wear) cost about $30 so they're in your price range. please just don't hurt yourself by wearing them without classes!http://www.discountdance.com/spframe_set…

If you plan to go en pointe - you need to be fitted by a professional - and don't skimp on pointe shoes! This is very important!
You don't want to screw with your feet! You need them to walk! These shoes need to be fitted properly!

For pointe shoes, you really need to go to a dance store and be fitted for a pair. There are many different brands and someone knowledgeable with ballet and pointe will be able to fit you with the correct pair - there are none that I know of that cost about $30. Most pointe shoes will run from $65 to $125 per pair. Hope this helps.

Do NOT order online! You never know whether the shoe is good for your feet or how it feels. If you get the wrong kind of shoe for your feet, you could seriously damage yourself. You say you're a beginner, so I would recommend going to a Capezio store or something before you order online. Good luck! :)

There is no such thing as a beginner's pointe shoe. If you've had at least 5 years of ballet training and your teacher has given you the OK, then you can go get pointe shoes. If not, you are making a STUPID decision and if you decide to get them anyway, don't come crying to Yahoo Answers when you break your ankle. Pointe shoes are taken very seriously in the real ballet world, and it will be no one's fault but your own when: 1. You can't manage to do anything in them because you've had no training and 2. You injure yourself. Not to mention the fact that pointe shoes are about $70 and toe pads (that keep it from hurting unbearably) cost about $20. Pointe also hurts like HELL. You also don't know how to sew on the ribbons, break them in, or take care of them.

you should NEVER buy pointe shoes online until you have been fitted for shoes in a shop a few times and you are absolutley sure of your size. After doing this and you still want to buy online, show your dance teacher when they arrive to see if he/she agrees that they are a good fit
